Olde Victorian Bulldogge Description

An Olde Victorian Bulldogge is a medium to large sized, smooth coated dog. Large headed with thick bones that do not impede vigour. Broad muzzle with short face, but not too short to hinder breathing. The teeth should be wide apart & large. Eyes should neither be bulging or sunken. Ears rose or button, they should not be erect or cropped. The most defining part of the breed, it should be as great in circumference as possible. It takes 2 to 3 years for final maturity. Bulldogges should have what is called a Bull-Neck (Thick, Muscular & Short). The tail may be docked, straight down or screwed, but not carried over its back. Colours vary from Brindle/white, Black/brindle, Solid White or pied, Fawn or Tan, Black/white.

Temperament


The Olde Victorian Bulldogge is a loyal, well tempered, steady dog. He gets along well with other family pets when raised with them and loves children. They have been proven to be child proof. He is brave and protective. He saves his deep bark for really important matter. Early training is advised as they have a stubborn tendency about them. As puppies they like to chew. The bulldogge should be fierce backing down from nothing, yet without much aggression. but must first be steady & loyal & true with a dependable nature.

Males Height: 18-19.5”(46-50cm)
Males Weight: 65-100lbs(29-46kg)
Females Height: 17.5-19”(44-48cm)
Females Weight: 55-85lbs(25-38kg)

Health Problems

Slow development of joints (joint supplement recommended) Entropian is rare but because of wrinkles can occur. Cherry eye is also rare but may occur as well.

Living Conditions

Cold very well, but in extreme temps plenty fresh water & shade is recommended.

Life Expectancy

Olde Victorian Bulldogges are Bred and whelped naturally they can live anywhere between 10-14 years

Origin

The downfall of the modern bulldog, the recreation of a better bulldogge was started, the OVB was developed by Carlos Woods, the development of the OVB began back in 1988.
